Chinese Ambassador Assured Liberia of China's Support

Jan. 27, 2010, Monrovia Liberia: H.E. Mr. ZHOU Yuxiao, Chinese Ambassador accredited to Liberia, reiterated his country's full commitment in supporting Liberia's postwar reconstruction and national renovation endeavor during his presence at a live talk show program, the National Forum, of the state-run Liberia Broadcasting System on January 27, 2010. 

During this half hour radio and television live show, series of issues as the bilateral relationship between China and Liberia, the extent and influence of China aids to the development of this war-torn country, the exchanges and cooperations at various levels bewteen China and Africa countries through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) etc. were under scrutiny and discussion between Amb. ZHOU and the hosts. When being asked the progress of the China-aid projects, the senior Chinese envoy expressed his delightness and satisfaction towards the quick and high quality deliveries of these gigantic projects as sports stadium, school buildings, hospitals and so forth, which he attributed to the readiness and helpfullness of his counterpart colleagues working in the different levels of the Liberian Government. On addressing the domestic and overseas concern over the sustainablility and irreversibility of Liberian peace and economic development, Amb. ZHOU briefed the audience his personal endeavor by encouraging and persuding more qualified Chinese enterprises to invest in Liberia, which are to benefit both employment and social development and help Liberian economy, according to this senior diplomat's words, "be propelled both by two engines as investment and donors' aid". 

As a program specially designed to illustrate the country's development strategy, Poverty Reduction Strategy or Lift Liberiathe National Forum focuses mainly on the domestic matters critical to Liberia's development. Due to China's active and positive engagement and participation in Liberia's postwar peace and reconstruction, the National Forum extended its invitation to the Chinese Ambassador. Expressing satisfaction towards the existing excellent bilateral relationship between China and Liberia, Amb. ZHOU ended his interview by reassuring Liberia that "China identifies itself with Liberia in its peace and reconstruction endeavor and is willing to continue its aids for the overall wellbeing and benefit of the Liberian"
