6th Joint Committee on China-Zimbabwe Economy and Trade Held in Beijing

On September 13, 2004, 6th Joint Committee on China-Zimbabwe Economy and Trade was held in Beijing. Wei Jianguo, Vice Minister of Commerce, and Moyo, Deputy Minister for Industry and Commerce of Zimbabwe, co-chaired the Committee.

Wei Jianguo pointed out that China and Zimbabwe had a friendly political relations and the potential for further economic and trade cooperation was huge. Zimbabwe has rich resources like tobacco and chromium, China would enhance cooperation with Zimbabwe in agriculture, mineral industry, electricity, communication and tourism, would keep encouraging Chinese enterprises to invest in Zimbabwe, both sides could actively discussed cooperation projects in areas of textiles, home appliances and automobile manufacture. He expressed that China would support economic construction and social development of Zimbabwe.

Moyo thanked for China's long-term support. He said that cooperation between China and Zimbabwe in fields of agriculture, mining industry, communication, transportation and public health was pushing step by step. Zimbabwe hoped to further strengthen cooperation with China. Moyo expressed his thanks for China's consideration of listing Zimbabwe to be one of tourism destinations for domestic people.

Then, Bo Xilai, minister of commerce of PRC, and Stan Mudenge, Zimbabwean Foreign Minister, signed the Summary of 6th China-Zimbabwe Joint Committee on Cooperation in Economy, Technology and Trade.
