Ambassador Wu Sike met with Dr. Amr Salama, Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and the State for Scientific Research on May 12, 2005.
Ambassador Wu briefed Salama the situation of Arabic teaching in Chinese colleges and universities , and the bilateral scientific research cooperation as well. He pointed out China attaches importance to the bilateral cooperation in this regard, adding that both sides should consider it with eyes on the future since it is part of strategic Sino-Egyptian cooperative relations. Ambassador Wu also briefed Salama the situation over Egypt-China University jointly run by Liao Ning University in China and International Education Group in Egypt, hoping that Salama show morn concern over the University for early completion of procedure for examination and approval.

Salama said he was satisfied with the progress made by both sides in higher education and scientific research, noting that he positively supported the jointly-run Egypt-China University. Salama said he hoped both sides develop cooperation in professional training, stressing that Egypt was in urgent need of personnel in this regard. Salama pointed out that both sides should discuss the establishment of cooperative scientific and research partnership and sign related agreements in order to strengthen the cooperation in this aspect.
