China, Chad vow to strengthen friendship between two armed forces

2006-10-20

China is willing to work with Chad to develop friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two armed forces, Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan said in Beijing Friday.

In a meeting with his Chadian counterpart Bichara Issa Djadallah, Cao said the relationship between the armed forces of China and Chad constitutes an important part in overall bilateral relations.

Cao, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and state councilor, stressed the development of such military relationship is of great significance to enhancing mutual trust, friendship and cooperation.

Cao noted the resumption of diplomatic relations at the ambassador level between the two countries marked a new chapter in bilateral relations, and it accords with the fundamental interests of the two nations.

He also expressed his appreciation for Chad's support for one-China policy.

Djadallah said Chad attaches great importance to promoting friendly relations with China. He hoped his current visit to China could help strengthen the cooperation between the two armed forces in various aspects so as to continuously deepen the overall Chad-China relations.
