Ambassador Chen Xiaodong Attended Handover Ceremony of Anti-pandemic Supplies Donated to Kglema Motlanthe Foundation

On November 9, the Chinese Embassy in South Africa and the Kglema Motlanthe Foundation held a handover ceremony of donated anti-pandemic supplies. Ambassador Chen Xiaodong, Madam Gugu Motlanthe, the wife of former President Motlanthe and Executive Director of the Kglema Motlanthe Foundation, attended the ceremony.
Ambassador Chen thanked Madam Gugu for attending the event on behalf of Former President Motlanthe, saying that China and South Africa have always been a community with a shared future, and that the two countries and peoples have always been supporting and helping each other. Solidarity and cooperation are the most powerful weapons to defeat the pandemic. President Xi Jinping and President Cyril Ramaphosa have exchanged letters, messages and phone calls on many occasions. The two presidents jointly hosted the Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity against COVID-19 to discuss ways for China and Africa to defeat the virus together. The Chinese Embassy and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries jointly donated anti-pandemic supplies to the Kglema Motlanthe Foundation, which they believe will help South Africa fight against the pandemic. China is ready to continue its cooperation with the Foundation.
Madame Gugu thanked China for its generous donation of anti-pandemic supplies, saying that China has always been South Africa's good friend and good brother. The South African people thank the Chinese government and people for their support and friendship. The Foundation will give full play to the role of donated supplies in the fight against the pandemic. The Foundation is ready to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese Embassy and make greater contributions to deepening the friendship between South Africa and China and promoting the development of South Africa.
