Ambassador Ma Met with President of Sudan's Sovereign Council

  On August 19, 2020, Ma Xinmin, Chinese Ambassador to Sudan, met with Burhan, President of Sudan’s Sovereign Council, to exchange their opinions on China-Sudan relations and issues of common concern like collective epidemic response.

  Noting the outbreak of the coronavirus disease since the beginning of this year, Burhan said that Sudan-China cooperation in fighting the virus together has become a new highlight of bilateral relationship. The Sudanese side sincerely appreciated the valuable support from China for Sudan’s anti-epidemic battle, he said, adding that he had reiterated at relevant meetings chaired by him that the assistance and support offered by China to the government and people of Sudan is unselfish with no strings attached, which must be engraved in the mind. The mutual trust and friendship between the two nations are enhanced amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and Sudan wishes to further strengthen its all-round cooperation with China in a wider range of areas and to revive economic and social activities nationwide as early as possible.

  Ma pointed out that under the leadership of leaders of the two countries, China-Sudan strategic partnership has withstood the test of the COVID-19 outbreak this year, with China-Sudan cooperation in epidemic prevention and control seeing positive achievements and bilateral relationship and friendship between the two peoples further consolidated. In light of the continual spreading of the coronavirus in Sudan, China is willing to continue its help as much as possible to support Sudan’s fight against COVID-19, assist it with regular epidemic prevention and control for an early victory over the disease, and work together with Sudan to build a China-Sudan health community. Ma also pledged that China will make active efforts to deliver the proposals and initiatives related to assistance to Africa made by Chinese President Xi Jinping, contribute to the orderly resumption of work and business in the country and its sustainable development, and keep pushing forward China-Sudan relations, in order to better improve the well-being of the two peoples.
