Chinese Ambassador Ma Met with President of Sudan's Sovereign Council

  On January 5, 2021, Chinese Ambassador to Sudan Ma Xinmin met with President of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Burhan to exchange their opinions on China-Sudan relations and other issues of common interest such as joint COVID-19 response.

  At the outset, Ma conveyed the congratulatory message of President Xi Jinping on Sudan’s independence anniversary to Burhan, and said, under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and your excellency, China-Sudan relations were further renewed in 2020. On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 65th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of the Sudan, President Xi Jinping and your excellency have exchanged congratulatory letters with each other in which they spoke highly of the achievements made by Sudan and in China-Sudan relations and charted the course of future bilateral relations. Going forward, China is ready to work with Sudan to inherit and carry forward China-Sudan friendship through enhanced cooperation in epidemic prevention and control, practical cooperation, cultural and people-to-people exchanges and other areas to create a brighter future of China-Sudan relations together.

  Burhan expressed his hearty thanks to the independence anniversary greetings of President Xi Jinping and extended his heartful respects and greetings to President Xi. He noted that Sudan treasures its strategic partnership with China, appreciates the long-time selfless assistance and valuable support provided by China in various sectors to Sudan, and highly praises the instrumental role of China in driving local economic and social development. Sudan will further strengthen friendly interactions between the two sides and collaborate with China in promoting exchanges and cooperation on COVID-19 response, business activities and people-to-people exchanges, in a bid to secure bigger achievements in Sudan-China strategic partnership.
