| Madagascan president, Chinese FM meet to cement long term interests |

Madagascan President Marc Ravalomanana met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing on Tuesday to ensure the realization of agreed programs. During the meeting, Li Zhaoxing said China will faithfully fulfill agreements reached by the two countries when President Ravalomanana visited China last year including the construction of an international conference center, a cement factory and the exploitation of mineral resources. Ravalomanana expressed his appreciation for the long term support from China and said he is glad to see the smooth progress of the agreed programs between the two countries. Li said that the friendship between the two countries has entered a new phase since Ravalomanana's visit to China last year and China will cherish the traditional relations with the country. Ravalomanana added that Madagascar and China have a broad range of potential cooperation and a bright future in various fields. In the same day, Madagascan Prime Minister Jacques Sylla met Li Zhaoxing at his office. Sylla noted that his country will adhere to the one-China policy, support China's peaceful reunification, understand and China's stance on human rights issue. Li is on his four-nation African tour from Jan. 6 to Jan. 14, which has taken him to Lesotho and Seychelles. He will also visit Mauritius.
