NAIROBI, Oct. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Representing the Chinese law-making body, the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Guo Chongli donated office equipment to Kenya National Assembly on Tuesday. The equipment, including laptop computers, printers and DVD players, was worth more than five million Kenya Shillings (about 62,500 US dollars). Guo Chongli noted the frequent high-ranking exchanges between the National People's Congress of China and Kenya National Assembly in recent years. The exchanges "demonstrates the friendly relations existing between the parliaments of the two countries as well as between our two governments and peoples," he said. Speaker of Kenya's National Assembly Francis Kaparo at the handover ceremony expressed his gratitude for the Chinese donation. He said the donated equipment would improve Kenyan lawmakers' access to information, and he expressed expectation the visit of top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo later this week will continue to develop the relations between the two parliaments. The donation was promised by Han Qide, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, during his visit to Kenya last December. Enditem |
