| State Councilor Tang meets Gabonese deputy PM |

Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met Tuesday with visiting Gabonese Deputy Prime Minister Jean Ping, exchanging views on bilateral relations and international issues. Tang hailed the rapid growth of China-Gabon relations since the two countries established diplomatic ties 33 years ago, saying China attaches great importance to developing the relations with Gabon. He said China is ready to make joint efforts with Gabon to further strengthen the mutually beneficial cooperation in broad fields, such as energy and electric power. Jean, also foreign minister of Gabon, said Gabon is grateful for the support of China to help Gabon's economic and social development and will cooperate with China closely to raise the level of Gabon-China relations. The two also touched on some international issues, such as the reform of the United Nations, according to sources with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, who plays host to the Gabonese guest.
