2008/06/19

On June 17, 2008, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks in the Foreign Ministry with Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and French Affairs of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea Pastor Micha Ondo Bile, who is here in China for a working visit.

Yang thanked Micha for making a special trip to China to express condolences over the Sichuan earthquake and hand over a donation of the Equatorial Guinean government. Yang pointed to the comprehensive and rapid development of bilateral relations in recent years and fruitful results of bilateral cooperation in various fields. He said China appreciates the Equatorial Guinean government's long-standing adherence to the one-China policy and will continue to work with the Equatorial Guinean side to push for greater development of bilateral relations on the existing basis.

Micha once again expressed condolences to China over the Sichuan earthquake and flooding in southern parts of China. Micha said the Equatorial Guinean government will continue to abide by the one-China policy and promote, along with China, the overall development of bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.

Following the talks, Micha delivered to Yang the Equatorial Guinean government's donation of 1 million euros to the Chinese government for quake relief.
