Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Meets with Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malawi

On April 7, 2009, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met in the Chinese foreign ministry with visiting permanent secretary of the foreign ministry of Malawi.

Yang said that the Chinese government attaches importance to developing the friendly and cooperative relations with Malawi and is ready to continue to provide assistance within its own capacity for Malawi's social and economic development and join hands with other developing countries including Malawi to cope with the challenges of the international financial crisis and maintain common interest.

The Malawi side thanked China for its assistance, expressed admiration that China continues to fulfill its commitment to Africa despite the international financial crisis and reiterated that it will continue to follow the one-China principle and is willing to make concerted efforts with China to promote the in-depth development of bilateral cooperation in various fields so as to benefit the two countries and their people.
