Chinese Embassy in Namibia Attends Chinese Charity Events in Northern Namibia

On July 9, 2010, Zhang Yiming, Political Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Namibia, was invited to a charity event in the Northern Namibian city of Ondangwa, on which Fifth Real Estate Corporation donated suppliesto local orphans and other vulnerable groups.About 300 people including Ms. Cao Shuhua- General Manager of Fifth Real Estate Corporation, city mayor, deputy city mayor, city councilors of Ondangwa and children from all orphanages attended the handover ceremony.

Speaking on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, Counselor Zhang praised Ms. Cao Shuhua on her philanthropic act of paying backtothelocal society and people through donations, saying this fully reflectedthe sense of social responsibility of the Chinese people and businesses in Namibia and the traditional virtue of the Chinese community in helping the disadvantaged. Counselor Zhang thanked the government of Ondangwa for itssupport to the local Chinese business community including Ms. Cao, hoping itwill continue to provide a good investment environment toall Chinese businesses. He also expressed hope that more Chinese would join the efforts to support the charity cause in Namibia, strengthen the good image of overseas Chinese people, and promote the development of China-Namibia friendly relations. 

 

The mayor of Ondangwa expressed deep appreciation for Mr. Cao's charitableact, thanking Fifth Real Estate Corporation for its contributions to the city development. He noted even though the Chinese and Namibian people speak different languages and have different skin colors, they are all brothers and sisters sharing a deep bond. He expressed his belief that China-Namibia friendship will continue forever.

The articles donated by the Fifth Real Estate Corporation include blankets, mattresses, mosquito nets, children's clothing and children's toys etc., ofa total value of 130,000 Namibian dollars. With joy and excitement, hundreds of children at the handover ceremony received their toys and clothes, and expressed their appreciation to Ms. Cao with songs.

 

On the same day, Counselor Zhang also traveled to the town of Oshikango, a major trade center near the border with Angola, to attend a donation ceremony organized by Huang Yuequan, chairman of Chinese Loving Heart Organization (CLHO) and board chairman of Hong Kong City project. During this event, Huang handed over mattresses, quilts, cotton-padded clothes and other articles to the local vulnerable groups,and providedtuition tomore than 70 children from single-parent homes studying at Oshikango Joint School. With a total value of 70,000 Namibian dollars, this eventrepresentsthe3rddonation by CLHO to the local communitythis year.
