Angolan president meets with Chinese procurator-general on judicial cooperation

LUAN DA, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos on Thursday met with visiting Chinese procurator-general Cao Jianming over political, economic and diplomatic relations, and judicial cooperation in particular, between the both countries.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Cao said that Sino- Angolan relations were getting stronger and stronger, adding that bilateral cooperation in the judicial field was also developing with the development of the political, economic and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

He stressed the need to further judicial cooperation, and President Eduardo dos Santos said during the meeting that Angola expected China to reinforce the exchange in judiciary filed, specially in staff training.

"I guaranteed to Eduardo dos Santos my commitment to working with my Angolan counterpart Joao Maria de Sousa to strengthen bilateral judicial cooperation to safeguard social and economic development between the two countries," the Chinese official said.

He also expressed the wish to invite Angolans to study in China for judicial training courses. "We can boost even further our interchange," he said.

Duirng the three-day visit starting Tuesday, Cao signed a memorandum of understanding with his Angolan counterpart Joao Maria de Sousa for further development of judicial cooperation between the two countries.

Currently Angola is the largest trading partner of China in Africa with bilateral trade volume standing at some 2 billion U.S. dollars a year, and the two countries established partnership of strategic cooperation in 2010.
