2012/10/18

MAPUTO Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Mozambican President Armando Guebuza is expected to proceed this week with the official inauguration of the new domestic terminal of the Maputo International Airport that was officially handed over by the Chinese Anhui Foreign Economic Construction Group Co. Ltd.

The airport started its official functioning on Monday after a hand-over ceremony carried out by the Chinese Group responsible for the rehabilitation since March 2011 to the Mozambican airports authorities, the Maputo daily Noticias reported on Tuesday.

This is part of the second phase of the construction and expansion of the Maputo International Airport, costing an estimated 36 million U. S. dollars.

The new domestic terminal is composed of two main rooms with a capacity of 580 passengers, equipped with high technology.
