On July 6, 2007, Guinea's Prime Minister Lansana Kouyate met with visiting Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun in Conakry.

Kouyate asked Zhai to convey his greetings to Chinese leaders, saying that the two countries share sincere friendship and the Guinean government and people thank for China's long-standing assistance to Guinea. The Guinean government attaches great importance to developing ties with China, Kouyate said, expressing hope to strengthen cooperation with China on agriculture and energy for the benefit of both peoples. The prime minister also reaffirmed his country's adherence to the one-China policy.

Zhai said since the establishment of diplomatic ties 48 years ago, both sides, based on sincere treatment, equality and mutual trust, have conducted fruitful cooperation on politics, economy, trade, culture, education and public health and maintained mutual support and close coordination in international affairs. Bilateral relationship is good enough to serve as a model for friendly cooperation, he added. The Chinese government cherishes traditional friendship with Guinea and is ready to make joint efforts with it to push bilateral ties to a higher level, said Zhai.

Zhai arrived in Conakry on July 5 for a working visit. During his stay in Guinea, Zhai also held working talks with Guinea's Foreign Minister Abdoul Kabèlè Camara. Both sides signed several cooperation agreements between the two governments on economy, technology and other areas and held a handing-over ceremony of anti-malaria drugs donated by China to Guinea.
