Tanzanian PM inaugurates Chinese-built water project for over 50,000 people
DAR ES SALAAM, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a water project to benefit over 50,000 people at Misungwi in the northwest region of Mwanza.
The project constructed by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) was part of the water projects being implemented by the Tanzanian government under the Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Program, said Majaliwa.
Majaliwa said the project was being financed by a low interest loan from the European Investment Bank and the French Development Agency.
Majaliwa praised CCECC, saying the Chinese construction firm was among the best with vast experience in China and across the world.
"CCECC has built trust with the government of Tanzania. The Chinese construction firm is undertaking a number of projects in Tanzania, including the Ubungo interchange in Dar es Salaam," said Majaliwa.
