Ambassador Zhao Yong Attends Sierra Leone Final of the 25th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition

Sierra Leone Final of the 25th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition took place in Freetown on June 6. Ambassador Zhao Yong, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Technical Higher Education Wurie and Basic and Senior Secondary Education Minister Sackey attended and delivered speeches. Over 200 participants including teachers and students from the Confucius Institute at the University of Sierra Leone and local Chinese-language enthusiasts were present.

Ambassador Zhao congratulated all finalists. He noted Chinese serves as a vital bond connecting Chinese and Sierra Leonean peoples and sustaining bilateral friendship, as well as a solid platform boosting practical cooperation and shared development. He encouraged young contestants to keep improving their Chinese and advance people-to-people exchanges for deeper China-Sierra Leone ties.

Ministers from Sierra Leone spoke highly of Chinese Bridge for facilitating cultural exchanges and bilateral friendship, encouraging contestants to master Chinese and act as cultural ambassadors between the two nations.

The event featured a warm and lively atmosphere. Twenty-one contestants showcased talents including Chinese speeches, singing, martial arts and clapper storytelling, expressing their understanding of the concept of One World, One Family.
