Ambassador Jiang Feng Meets with AUC Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf

On June 5, Ambassador Jiang Feng, Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union (AU), met with H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission. Minister Counsellor Lv Ruihao and others were present at the meeting.



Ambassador Jiang briefed Chairperson Youssouf on China’s measures to support Africa in combating the Ebola outbreak. He announced China’s provision of emergency humanitarian assistance to both the African Union Commission and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), as well as the dispatch of a dedicated medical expert team to the DRC to provide medical services and assistance. Ambassador Jiang commended the AU for its firm adherence to the one-China principle and stated that China stands ready to work with the AU to advance the implementation of China’s zero-tariff measures for Africa, so as to better benefit the peoples of China and Africa.


Chairperson Youssouf expressed appreciation for China’s emergency assistance to Africa in fighting the Ebola outbreak, and highly commended China as a trustworthy and reliable partner that has long provided valuable support to Africa. He spoke positively of the development of Africa-China relations, reaffirmed Africa’s firm commitment to the one-China principle, and expressed willingness to strengthen communication and coordination with China on major international and regional issues.
