Senior Chinese legislator visits Tanzania to boost ties

DAR ES SALAAM, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- The friendship between China and Tanzania forged by the elder generation of leaders has withstood the test of time and becomes even firmer with fruitful results, and must be cherished, a visiting senior Chinese legislator has said.

At the invitation of the National Assembly of Tanzania, Ji Bingxuan, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, paid a three-day visit to Tanzania from Tuesday to Thursday.

During his visit, Ji met with Tanzania's Speaker of the National Assembly Job Ndugai, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (Tanzania's ruling party) Deputy Secretary General Rodrick Mpogolo responsible for the Tanzanian mainland affairs, and Chama Cha Mapinduzi Deputy Secretary General Abdulla Saadalla responsible for Zanzibar affairs.

Ji also attended the launching ceremony of the Silk Road Community Building Initiative in Tanzania. He said China will continue to act on the principles of sincerity, practical results, affinity and good faith in carrying out cooperation with Africa, deepen cooperation with Tanzania on the Belt and Road Initiative, and strengthen exchanges between the legislative bodies of both sides, as well as cultural exchanges between the two peoples.

The Tanzanian side thanked China for its long-term support for the economic and social development of Tanzania and expressed its willingness to carry out BRI cooperation with China so as to continuously boost the friendly relations between the two countries.
