On January 7, 2020, the website of the Somali National News Agency published by Ambassador Qin Jian entitled Facts can never be erased. The full text is as follows:
Somalia is a single country that believes in Islam. China is a multi-ethnic country with 56 ethnic groups. There are various religions such as Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism and Christianity in China. There are nearly 200 million believers and more than 380000 religious staff. The number of Christians, Muslims and Catholics is 38 million, 20 million and 6 million respectively. There are about 5500 religious groups. There are 144000 religious places registered by law, among which more than 35000 are Islamic mosques. Individual countries have attacked China for demolishing religious sites, suppressing religious freedom and religious activities, arresting, imprisoning and persecuting religious talents without any reason, which is totally a reversal of the black and white, and is not in line with the facts at all.
The Constitution and laws and regulations of China fully guarantee citizens' right of religious belief. According to the provisions of the constitution of China, citizens have freedom of religious belief, and the state protects normal religious activities. No state organ, social organization or individual may compel citizens to believe in religion or not. China's constitution provides the basis for the state to protect the right of religious freedom, manage religious affairs by law and build a positive and healthy religious relationship. China not only relies on the existing legal system to protect the right of freedom of religious belief, but also 91 religious colleges and universities established in accordance with the law to train talents for the development and inheritance of various religions, and increase new contents such as Internet religious information services, protect the legitimate rights and interests of its citizens in religion, respect the religious beliefs of foreigners in China, and allow them to participate in religious activities in corresponding places.
Take Xinjiang as an example. This autonomous region is located in the northwest of China. It is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious region. It covers an area of more than 1.66 million square kilometers and has a total population of more than 24 million. At present, there are Uyghur, Han, Kazak, Hui, Mongolian and other ethnic groups, who believe in Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity, etc., including more than 10 million Muslims. There are 24400 mosques, more than 28000 religious places, nearly 30000 Islamic clergymen in Xinjiang, with an average of one mosque for every 530 Muslims. There are many Islamic colleges and universities in Xinjiang, such as Xinjiang Islamic Scripture College and Xinjiang Islamic Scripture school. Since 1960, the Xinjiang government has arranged charter flights to guarantee thousands of Muslims to make pilgrimages to Mecca, and arranged doctors, chefs, guides, translators and other staff to accompany them. The printing, publishing and distribution of multilingual and multi version religious classics, audio-visual products and electronic books meet the needs of religious citizens of all ethnic groups.
There is a saying in Africa that "Whoever defiles others will destroy himself". Individual countries attacked Xinjiang for large-scale detention, cultural and religious persecution and other serious human rights violations. They slandered Xinjiang vocational and technical education and training center as "reeducation camp" and "concentration camp". In fact, the issue in Xinjiang is not one of human rights, nationality and religion at all, but one of counter terrorism and anti secession, from the 1990s to 2016, people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang suffered from "three evil forces", terrorism, extremism and separatism in China and abroad, which have plotted, organized and conducted thousands of violent terrorist attacks including bombings, assassinations, poisoning, arson, assaults, unrest and riots, resulted in the deaths of a large number of innocent people and religious people and immeasurable property damage, disrupted the normal development of religious activities and the development of religion, exposed the nature of anti-human, anti-civilization and anti-society.
In order to protect the interests of the people and the safety of religious believers, the local government of Xinjiang, drawing on the experience of some Islamic countries, established vocational skill education and training centers by law, arranged people affected by extreme thoughts to learn Chinese common language, laws and skills, so as to get rid of the erosion of terrorism thoughts. This is to prevent from the source and save those who are blinded by extreme thoughts, and is responsible to the people. At present, all the trainees have completed their study and have achieved stable employment and a happiness life with the help of the government.
The tide hasn't set for a thousand years, and the wind will set sail again. In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward the Belt and Road Initiative. Xinjiang, the hot ground of ancient Silk Road, is full of vigor and vitality, political harmony, social peace, people's happiness, people of all ethnic groups living in peace and contentment, enjoying the increasing sense of fulfillment, happiness and security brought by the national economic development. In the past three years, there has not been a violent terrorist incident in Xinjiang. Since 2014, nearly 2.4 million people have been lifted out of poverty. In the first three quarters of 2019, the GDP of Xinjiang increased by 6.1% year on year. From January to October, the number of tourists received exceeded 200 million, and the tourism revenue was 300 billion yuan. Since December 2018, more than 1000 members of more than 70 delegations from 91 countries, including foreign officials, envoys to China, media reporters and religious figures, have visited Xinjiang and visited the education and training center. They witnessed the remarkable results of the preventive anti-terrorism and de-extremism measures taken by the local government of Xinjiang, and spoke positively of China's work in combating and preventing extremism in accordance with the law, believe that China's experience is worth learning in the world. In March 2019, the Ministerial Council of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation adopted a resolution to appreciate the efforts made by China to care for Muslim people. In July, more than 50 permanent representatives to Geneva, including representatives of member states of the organization of Islamic cooperation, jointly wrote letters to the president of the United Nations Human Rights Council and the High Commissioner for human rights, appreciating China's achievements in the development of human rights in Xinjiang and in counter-terrorism and de-extremism, and supporting China's position on Xinjiang related affairs. The representatives made it clear that what they saw and heard in Xinjiang was totally different from some western media reports. In October, About 70 countries spoke at the relevant meetings of the 74th session of the General Assembly, praising Xinjiang's great achievements in economic and social development and progress in human rights. China has contributed to the cause of global counter-terrorism, de-radicalization and peace and progress.
