Secretary-General Zhang Ming of Chinese Follow-up Committee of FOCAC Visits Morocco

Zhang Ming, secretary-general of the Chinese Follow-up Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), of the Preparatory Committee for the 4th Ministerial Conference of the FOCAC, and director-general of the African department of the ministry of foreign affairs, visited Morocco from August 27th to 29th, 2009, exchanging views with officials from Morocco's ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation on the preparation work for the 4th ministerial conference of the FOCAC.

Zhang also called upon Latifa Akharbach, secretary of state for foreign affairs, and held talks with director for Asian and Pacific affairs from the foreign ministry. Zhang briefed the hosts on the implementation of the follow-up actions of the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC and the preparation work for the 4th ministerial conference, and expressed appreciation to Morocco's active participation in the Forum, stressing that China is willing to work together with Morocco and other African countries to ensure the success of the 4th ministerial conference so as to deepen the new type of strategic partnership between China and Africa.

Expressing gratitude to Zhang for his visit to Morocco to have consultation on the 4th ministerial conference of the FOCAC, the Moroccan side spoke highly of the contribution the Forum has made to China-Africa cooperation, and indicated that Morocco will continue its active involvement in the preparation for the 4th ministerial conference. They reaffirmed that Morocco will continue its close cooperation with the Chinese side to ensure the success of the conference.
