Wang Yi Meets with Zimbabwean Foreign Minister Frederick Musiiwa Makamure Shava

On November 28, 2021 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi  met with Zimbabwean Foreign Minister Frederick Musiiwa Makamure Shava who is to  attend the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa  Cooperation (FOCAC) in Dakar.

Wang Yi said, China and Zimbabwe are good partners and good friends with a  shared future. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state,  China-Zimbabwe relations have been improving, fully demonstrating the  positioning of a comprehensive strategic partnership. China thanks Zimbabwe's  understanding of and support for its efforts to safeguard core interests. China  never wavers in its support for Zimbabwe's endeavors to explore a development  path that suits the national conditions of Zimbabwe, and is willing to  continuously work with Zimbabwe to carry forward the tradition of friendship,  strengthen the alignment of development strategies, fully tap the potential of  mutually beneficial cooperation, increasingly expand pragmatic cooperation, and  help Zimbabwe make greater progress in development.

Wang Yi said, Zimbabwe is a firm supporter for and participant of the FOCAC.  Over the 20 years since the forum was launched, the fruits of China-Africa  cooperation have spread across Africa and benefited hundreds of millions of  African families. China will announce a series of new initiatives for pragmatic  cooperation with Africa at the forthcoming conference, and expects the  Zimbabwean side to play a positive role in making the forum a success.

Shava said, Zimbabwe admires China's tremendous development achievements,  congratulates the Communist Party of China on its centenary, and hails China's  pursuit of the path of peaceful development and its important role in reducing  global poverty and promoting the overall development of developing countries.  Zimbabwe appreciates China's support in helping the country achieve the economic  transition. Zimbabwe pursues a policy of "looking east" and will continue to  work with China to firmly support each other.

Noting that the smooth progress of the cooperation projects between Zimbabwe  and China within the framework of the FOCAC has effectively boosted the economic  development of Zimbabwe, Shava said, Zimbabwe firmly supports the development of  the forum and stands ready to work hard to wrap up the conference so as to open  a new chapter of Africa-China cooperation.
