【Population】104.5 million (February 2018). Egypt is a predominantly Sunni Muslim country with Islamism as its state religion. 84% of the population are Muslims. There are about 6 million foreign immigrants living in Egypt.
【Language】The official language is Arabic.
【Capital】 Cairowith a population of 22.8 million (2017) and an area of 3,085 km2. In the summer, highest average temperature is 34.2℃while the lowest drops to 20.8℃. In winter, the average highs and lows are 19.9℃ and 9.7℃ respectively.
【Head of State】President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi was sworn in on 8 June 2014.

【Geography and Climate】Egypt is a transcontinental country spanning Africa and Asia. Most parts of Egypt are in the northeast of Africa, and only the Sinai Peninsula on the east bank of Suez Canal lies in the southwestern corner of Asia. Egypt is bordered by Libya to the west, Sudan to the south, the Red Sea, Palestine and Israel to the east and the the Mediterranean Sea to the north, with a coastline of about 2,900 km. Egypt has an arid climate with scarce rainfall. The Nile Delta and northern coastal areas have a mild Mediterranean climate and average temperature is 12℃ in January and 26℃in July. Large parts of the country have hot and dry tropical desert climate with temperature as high as 40℃.
