  【Official Name】Republic of Kenya

  【Area】582,646 km2

  【Population】49.7 million (2017). There are 44 ethnic groups in the country, mainly Kikuyu (17%), Luhya (14%), Kalenjin (11%), Luo (10%) and Kamba (10%). In addition, there are Indo-Pakistanis, Arabs and Europeans. Kiswahili is the national language, Kiswahili and English are the official languages. 45% of the country’s population believe in Christian Protestantism, 33% believe in Catholicism, 10% believe in Islam, and the rest believe in indigenous religions and Hinduism.

  【Capital】Nairobi has a population of about 3.5 million. The annual average temperature is 17.7℃.

  【Geography and Climate】Kenya is located in eastern Africa, lying on the equator, and with the Great Rift Valley running through the north and south. It borders Somalia to the east, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, Ethiopia and South Sudan to the north, and the Indian Ocean to the southeast, with a coastline of 536 km. There are many plateaus in the country with an average altitude of 1,500 meters. The whole country is affected by tropical monsoon. The coastal area is warm and humid, and the plateau is mild and temperate. The annual high temperature is 22 to 26℃ and the low temperature is 10 to 14℃.
