【Area】1.1036 million k㎡
【Population】105 million. There are over 80 different ethnic groups, and Oromo (40% of the population), Amhara (30%), Tigrayans (8%), Somali (6%) and Sidama (4%) are among the largest. 45% of the population are Ethiopian Orthodox, Muslim 40 to 45%, Protestant 5% and others practice indigenous religions. Amharic is recognized as the working language of the Federal Government. English is widely spoken. Major indigenous languages include Oromiffa and Tigrinya.

【Geography and Climate】Ethiopia is a landlocked country in northeast Africa. Bordering Djibouti and Somali to the east, Sudan and South Sudan to the west, Kenya to the south and Eritrea to the north. With two-thirds of its landbeingplateau at an average elevation of nearly 3,000 meters, Ethiopia is dubbed “Roof of Africa”.
