【Population】56.52 million (Stats SA, 2017).South Africa is a multi-ethnic society encompassing a wide variety of cultures. There are 11 official languages in South Africa. Approximately 80% South African inhabitants are Christians and the rest of practice indigenousfaiths, Islamism and Hinduism, among others.
【Capital】Pretoria is the administrative capital of South Africa, with an estimated population of 2.92 million; Cape Town is the legislative capital, with an estimated population of 3.74 million; Bloemfontein is the judicial capital, with an estimated population of 750,000 (South Africa census, 2011).

【Geography and Climate】South Africa is the southernmost country in Africa, with the Indian Ocean to the east and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. It shares boundaries with Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Swaziland to the north, andsurrounds the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. Its coastline stretches more than 3,000 km. Most of its territory locates in tropical savanna regions, with high temperatures of 32 to 38℃ in summer and low temperature of -10 to 12℃ in winter.
