  【Geography and Climate】Being an island country in the southeast of the Gulf of Guinea in central-western Africa, Sao Tome and Principe is 201 km off the African continent. It is composed of two main islands: Sao tome and Principe, and 14 small islands. It has Gabon to the east and Equatorial Guinea to the northeast across the sea. Its coastline is 220 km long. Both Sao Tome and Principe are volcanic islands. The Country has tropical rainforest climate, and is wet and hot all the year round. The average temperature of the two islands is 27℃. The long rains season is from January to May, the dry season from June to September, and the short rains season from October to December. The average annual rainfall is 1,000 to 2,500 mm.
