  【Official Name】United Republic of Tanzania

  【Area】945,000 k㎡, including Zanzibar (2,657 k㎡)

  【Population】57.3 million (2017), including 1.3 million in Zanzibar. The country has 126 ethnic groups. Swahili, the national language, is also the official language together with English. Among Tanganyika (mainland) residents, 32 % of them believe in Catholicism and Christianity, 30 % in Islam and the rest in primitive fetishism. Almost all Zanzibar residents believe in Islam.

  【Capital】Dodoma, with a population of 410,000 and an area of 2,576 km2, hasan average annual temperature of 22.7℃ (the former capital was Dar es Salaam,the plan to change the capital to Dodoma is underway at present. The foreign embassies to Tanzania are still in Dar es Salaam.)

  【Head of state】President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli is elected in October 2015.

  【Holiday】National Day of Tanzania, as well as Union Day of Tanganyika and Zanzibar (26 April)

  【Geography and Climate】Located in eastern Africa, south of the equator, Tanzania borders Kenya and Uganda to the north, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique in the south, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west and the Indian Ocean to the east. The coastline is 840 km. The eastern coastal areas and some inland lowlands have tropical savanna climate, and the western inland plateau has tropical mountain climate. The average temperature in most areas is 21 to 25℃. The tropical marine climate in more than 20 islands in Zanzibar makes it wet and hot all the year round, with an average annual temperature of 26℃.
